Montpellier, September 2026 – On the occasion of the 43rd edition of the European Heritage Days, held this year under the themes “Photography Heritage” and “Heritage at Risk: Revive, Resist, Reimagine,” the Château de la Piscine will exceptionally open its doors to the public on Saturday, September 19 and Sunday, September 20, 2026.

ÈVE LAROCHE-JOUBERT — SCULPTURE, MEMORY AND HERITAGE

Ève Laroche-Joubert’s work naturally resonates with both themes of this year’s edition. Rooted in a practice of the body in motion, her work invariably extends into the image: photography becomes a means of giving permanence to a gesture that is ephemeral by nature, transforming a lived moment into a lasting trace. Moving between sculpture, performance and photographic documentation, each work explores how, for an instant, a body can imprint its memory onto matter.

Her work has also always reflected on balance and on what threatens to tip or fall. By choosing materials capable of withstanding time and the elements, and by continually seeking to reconcile the fragility of gesture with the solidity of form, the artist questions what it means to preserve something alive. To welcome her work at the Château de la Piscine is to bring the centuries-old heritage of the site into dialogue with another kind of heritage, one perpetually in the making: that of a body searching for its point of balance.
