BAM “Artistic Walks in the Mediterranean” is a project by Sète Agglopôle Méditerranée, initiated on the occasion of the urban community’s twentieth anniversary around the Thau Archipelago: “20 Years 20 Artworks”. Across our territory, the trails “Artistic Walks in the Mediterranean” offer residents and visitors an opportunity to (re)discover landmark sites and contemporary artworks. Around twenty artists were invited to create permanent artworks across the thirteen municipalities of the urban community, showcasing a shared heritage of great richness. BAM “Ballades Artistiques en Méditerranée” est un projet de Sète Agglopôle Méditerranée initié à l’occasion des vingts ans de l’agglomération autour de l’Archipel de Thau : “20 Ans 20 œuvres”. Jalonnant notre territoire, les parcours “Balades artistiques en Méditerranée” proposent aux résidents et visiteurs une (re)découverte des sites patrimoniaux et des œuvres contemporaines. Une vingtaine d’artistes ont été sollicités pour créer des œuvres pérennes réparties sur les treize communes de l’agglomération, valorisant ainsi un patrimoine commun d’une grande richesse. ARTWORK IN VIC-LA-GARDIOLE
Eve Laroche-Joubert lives and works in Sète. Rooted in the tradition of the artist-engineer, her practice sits at the crossroads of sculpture, performance, dance, architecture, and design. Although the forms and structures she creates draw on varied sources of inspiration, they consistently embody a biomorphic character that invites movement and engagement.
“Set on the edge of a small pond frequented by a wide variety of birds, the chosen site lies to the north of Vic-la-Gardiole. Even before my first discussions with the village’s mayor, the residents had expressed their desire to establish a bird-watching observatory — a beautiful synchronicity. It seemed only natural that the wishes of the people of Vic aligned with my ongoing research into the shared use and collective stewardship of natural spaces.
My sculpture-observatory, titled Departures and Arrivals, pays tribute to the living cycle and the journeys of migrating species. Like a path towards the sky, it highlights the poetic dimension of blending discreetly into the landscape in order to gently draw closer to the birds. The organic forms are designed to be fully accessible to people with reduced mobility, especially little Talya, to whom I dedicate this work.

ŒUVRE SUR VIC-LA-GARDIOLE
Eve Laroche-Joubert vit et travaille à Sète. Enracinée dans la tradition de l’artiste-ingénieur, son travail se situe à l’intersection de la sculpture, de la performance, de la danse, de l’architecture et du design. L’inspiration des formes et des structures qu’elle produit est diverse, mais celles-ci présentent toujours un caractère biomorphique invitant au mouvement et à l’usage…
Aux abords d’un petit étang habité par une grande variété d’oiseaux, le site retenu s’ouvre au nord de Vic-la-Gardiole. Avant mes premiers échanges avec Madame Ferrier, maire du village, les habitants avaient exprimé le souhait d’implanter un observatoire ornithologique. Une belle synchronicité… Comme une évidence, la démarche des Vicoises et Vicois s’inscrit dans la lignée de mes créations contemplatives au cœur d’espaces naturels.
Ma sculpture-observatoire, intitulée « Départs et Arrivées », rend hommage au cycle du vivant et aux voyages migratoires. Telle une passerelle vers le ciel, elle met en lumière la dimension poétique de s’insérer discrètement dans le paysage pour se rapprocher des oiseaux en douceur. Évoquant une rampe de décollage, la structure s’élance sur pilotis, encadrée par une rangée de tamaris aux troncs sinueux. Les formes organiques sont pensées pour être accessibles aux personnes en fauteuil roulant, en particulier la petite Talya, à qui je dédie cette œuvre.
