UNUSUAL. One might mistake it for a very large oyster shell. But this “Vale of a Shoulder” from the BodyScapes series is in fact the imprint of a man’s shoulder, enlarged ten times. It is the work of Eve Laroche-Joubert. A deep white, it was installed at the Saint-Pierre plaza earlier this week. The piece is on loan from the artist to the municipality. For the pleasure of passersby, it will remain in place for two years. Visitors can even nestle comfortably inside it. “I’m counting on you to take good care of it,” the artist adds.

Elle est l’œuvre d’Ève Laroche-Joubert. D’un blanc profond, elle a été installée sur le parvis du site Saint-Pierre en début de semaine. Il s’agit d’un prêt de l’artiste à la municipalité. Pour le plaisir des yeux, elle restera à cet emplacement deux ans. Il est possible de se lover confortablement dedans. “Je vous fais confiance pour en prendre soin”, ajoute l’artiste.

It could be mistaken for a very large oyster shell. But this “Hollow of a Shoulder” from the Body Scapes series is in fact the imprint of a man’s shoulder, enlarged ten times. Visitors have the artist’s permission to curl up inside it. A deep white, the piece was installed on the Saint-Pierre plaza early last week. It is on loan from the artist to the municipality and will remain there for two years, simply for the pleasure of those who pass by. One can comfortably nestle into it. “I’m counting on you to take good care of it,” adds the Franco-American artist who divides her time between Sète and Brooklyn. Another of her works, titled Entasis Dance V, is also on view in the Simone-Veil Park. This three-meter-high white column represents a human body in motion.

Une autre de ses oeuvres, intiulée Entasis Dance V, est également visible au parc Simone-Veil. Cette colonne blanche de trois mètres de haut représente un corps humain en mouvement.
