Wander Artists
As part of the Balades Artistiques en Méditerranée (BAM), around twenty artworks line the shores of the Thau lagoon, spanning fourteen municipalities and four itineraries. Local artists from Sète and invited guests compete in imagination, while the inaugurations unfold over two years. Meeting with four creators, among the most renowned and most deeply involved.
HEAD-ON BODY-FORWARD
Eve Laroche-Joubert explores the union between body and matter. “I take a cylinder that’s 3.15 meters high and I dance around it virtually. It allows me to see how a dancer can interact with it.”
To move from theory to practice, all she needs to do is slip into a satin suit designed by costumer Catherine Sardi and climb onto Entasis Dance V. Who better than the artist herself to sequence movements on this biomorphic sculpture, made of plywood and resin, installed since 2022 in a municipal park in Sète? After ten years of ballet conservatory training in Nancy, capoeira, and regular acrobatic yoga, balancing upside down seems like child’s play for this Franco-American woman in her early fifties.
She turned a former butcher’s shop into her den — a quasi-engineering and mechanics workshop.“I like doing highly precise work with different tools, then shifting scale. My love of all things large is practically a pathology. I love movement, material, big gestures, taking up space.”
The energetic artist will give her full measure for the BAM in Vic-la-Gardiole. Overlooking a lagoon, she is building an bird-observatory-sculpture accessible to wheelchair users.

Dans le cadre des balades artistiques en Méditerranée (BAM), une vingtaine d'œuvres jalonnent les rives de l'étang de Thau, au fil de quatorze communes et quatre parcours. Sétois et invités rivalisent d'imagination, tandis que les inaugurations s'échelonnent sur deux ans. Rencontre avec un quatuor de créateurs, parmi les plus fameux et les plus impliqués.
À BRAS-LE-CORPS
Ève Laroche-Joubert explore l’union du corps et de la matière. « Je prends un cylindre de 3,15 mètres de haut et je danse virtuellement autour. Cela me permet de voir comment un danseur ou une danseuse peut interagir et s’y insérer. »
Pour passer à la pratique, il n’y a qu’à enfiler une combinaison satinée signée de la costumière Catherine Sardi et à se lancer sur Entasis Dance V. Qui de plus qualifiée que l’artiste pour enchaîner les mouvements sur cette sculpture biomorphique, en contreplaqué et résine, posée depuis 2022 dans un parc municipal sétois ? Après dix ans de conservatoire de ballet à Nancy, de la capoeira et une pratique régulière du yoga acrobatique, tenir en équilibre la tête renversée semble un jeu d’enfant pour cette jeune quinqua franco-américaine.
D’une ancienne boucherie, elle a fait son antre, un quasi-atelier d’ingénieur et de mécanicien. « J’aime faire un travail précis au micron avec différents outils puis changer d'échelle. Mon amour du grand est une pathologie. J’aime bouger, la matière, les grands mouvements, occuper l’espace. »
L'énergique plasticienne va donner sa pleine mesure pour les BAM à Vic-la-Gardiole. En surplomb d'un étang, elle construit une sculpture-observatoire ornithologique accessibles aux personnes en fauteuil.
